Maidstone's Remembrance parade is on Sunday 8 November. Last year it stepped off at 10.30am, silence at 11am at The Broadway, roads shut 9.45am to 12.30pm.
Remembrance Sunday 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, and Maidstone marks it with a parade through the town centre and a service at the War Memorial on The Broadway, opposite Maidstone West station. Maidstone Borough Council has not yet published this year’s timings, but the running order has been the same for at least the last two years, so you can plan around it now: the parade steps off at 10.30am, the two-minute silence is at 11am, and roads around The Broadway close from about 9.45am to 12.30pm.
The quick answer
- Date: Remembrance Sunday is Sunday 8 November 2026. Armistice Day, 11 November, is the Wednesday after.
- Where and when (last year’s timings): the parade stepped off at 10.30am from the junction of Week Street and the High Street, the service began at the War Memorial on The Broadway at 10.50am, and the two-minute silence was at 11am.
- Roads: last year the council closed roads from 9.45am to 12.30pm around The Broadway, London Road, Rocky Hill, Tonbridge Road and St Peter’s Street.
How the morning runs
This is the timetable Maidstone Borough Council published for Remembrance Sunday 2025, which matches the one it gave for 2024:
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 9.45am | Road closures begin |
| 10.30am | Parade steps off from the junction of Week Street and the High Street and heads to the War Memorial on The Broadway |
| 10.50am | Service of Remembrance begins, followed by the laying of wreaths |
| 11am | Two minutes' silence |
| 11.15am | Dignitaries and parade process back into the High Street, where the Mayor and the Commanding Officer take the salute |
| 11.25am | Parade turns into Week Street and disperses |
| 12.30pm | Road closures end |
In 2024 the council described the route in more detail: from the High Street into Lower High Street, “across the bridge system” and on to the memorial opposite Maidstone West station. It also said it would use rolling closures where it could, and that the roads around the memorial were likely to stay shut between at least 10.30am and 11.30am.
Who takes the salute
The salute is taken by the Mayor of Maidstone alongside the Commanding Officer of 36 Engineer Regiment and the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers. In 2025 that was the then Mayor, Cllr Martin Round, and Lt Col Sean Parr RE; in 2024 it was Cllr John Perry and Lt Col Ryan Castro RE. This year’s names will be in the council’s announcement.
Where to stand
The council hands out paper copies of the Order of Service to people gathered in Jubilee Square on the morning, and publishes a downloadable version with its announcement. If you want to see the service itself, the War Memorial is on The Broadway, opposite Maidstone West station; the salute is taken on the High Street as the parade returns.
Getting there
With The Broadway, London Road, Rocky Hill, Tonbridge Road and St Peter’s Street all affected, the area around the memorial is the hardest to reach by car that morning; our parking in Maidstone page lists the car parks, and our roadworks and travel page carries any other closures that weekend. Maidstone West station is directly opposite the memorial.
What is still to be confirmed
- The 2026 timings, road closures and the Commanding Officer taking the salute. The council published its 2024 notice on 22 October and its 2025 notice on 7 November, so expect this year’s between late October and the first week of November.
- The 2026 Order of Service.
We will update this page when the council’s announcement is out. For the rest of the season, see Maidstone fireworks and Bonfire Night and the Christmas lights switch-on.
